How The blog started...

November 15, 2001.

That was the day I bought my first journal.

It was a bright yellow diary with a lock + key I found on a shelf at my school's book fair.  My second grade self was entranced by the idea of keeping my thoughts and feelings a mystery to the rest of world, as though paper could pinky promise not to tell my innermost secrets.

I wrote about everything: The fear of grumpy math teachers yelling at me for looking out the window...again. The joy of getting a classmate's birthday party invitation from the mailbox. The anger that brewed when brat-faced Ellie copied my cartoons in art class. The heartache upon discovering my third grade crush had a different favorite animal than me and therefore wasn't my soulmate like I once thought.

I kept writing. And I kept growing.

By the time I got to high school, I had scribbled through 40 journals. Each one filled with a million stories, goals, failures, hopes, frustrations, names of crushes, names of friends. But I kept them all to myself.

It wasn't until college when I discovered the joy of sharing my written thoughts with others.

When my English professor asked me to read to the class a personal essay I wrote titled, "My Awkward Stage" - I was nervous.  I had never been so vulnerable with a group of strangers.  But my peers listened. They laughed. And not only did they enjoy it, but they could relate to it.

Encouraged by my family, professors, and peers, I decided to make a switch from private thoughts scribbled on paper - to stories shared on a blog.

In August 2015, I created my blog, Catie Bee.

Within its first few months, Catie Bee had readers from 54 countries.

For the past two years, I’ve used blogging as an exciting and creative way to connect with others around the world, share insight on a variety of topics, and sell my artwork.

Whether I’m writing about Disney audition tips, wedding decor ideas, or just the emotional highs and lows of being a young adult – I hope to make someone’s day a little brighter with a buzz thought.

My thoughts and ideas are here.  And while I don't have a lock + key to the blog, this is a safe place to journal, explore, create, and most importantly - share – all while digging deeper into my passions of story-telling and painting than I have before.

Thank you to anyone who has read a buzz thought!
