Our Disney Wedding: One Year Anniversary

I remember the first time I dreamed of a Disney wedding. I had just moved to Orlando to begin performing at Walt Disney World. Wes was visiting me. Since he had never been to Disney World before, I was so excited to show him my new home at Disney - a place that has been special to me since I was a young child.

It was a day off from work, and Wes and I decided to spend the afternoon walking around Disney's luxury resorts. As we explored the Grand Floridian, we stumbled upon a wedding.

"That's so weird!" I thought, "Who the heck gets married at Disney??"

After a few moments, I was mesmerized - not by the incredible decor or Cinderella's carriage - but by how happy the bride and groom looked. They were beaming as their wedding guests tossed rose petals in the air. There was something special about this place, and I imagined what it would be like to get married there.

As we continued to spy on this beautiful event, I had no idea that less than a year later, Wes and I would be married at that same location - surrounded by the people we love the most and having the best day of our lives.

Our wedding at Walt Disney World was a fun-packed weekend of running around the parks with relatives and close friends.

The big day included an elegant morning ceremony at the Wedding Pavilion with a perfect view of Cinderella's castle. At our reception, Mickey and Minnie stopped by, the DJ got everyone on the dance floor, and a confetti cannon went off during the last dance.

The evening of our wedding, our guests were invited to a private party at Disney's EPCOT park to enjoy a plethora of desserts while watching our favorite firework show.

Every moment was filled with happy faces, breath-taking scenery, and of course…magic. What more could this Disney-lover have wished for?

As we celebrate our one year anniversary today, I thank my parents who supported my dream of sharing the Disney magic with our guests. Wes and I thank everyone who traveled to celebrate our wedding day last year.

April 18, 2015 was unforgettable. As my friend Cinderella would say: "It was like a dream. Better than a dream."
